Το 1509 στο Μεξικό, έγινε ένα γεγονός το οποίο γέννησε έναν θρύλο για την La Llorona ή αλλιώς η γυναίκα που κλαίει. Ο θρύλος λέει ότι μια γυναίκα όταν έμαθε ότι ο άντρας της την απάτησε, πήρε τα δύο της παιδιά και τα έπνιξε στο ποτάμι του χωριού. Αφού συνειδητοποίησε το τι είχε κάνει, έπεσε σε κατάθλιψη και κατηγορούσε τον εαυτό της και αυτοκτόνησε και η ίδια. Λένε ότι από τότε, εφόσον ο θάνατος της προκλήθηκε από μια πράξη οργής, δεν ήταν το τέλος για εκείνη την γυναίκα αφού λένε ότι ψάχνει ακόμη τα δύο της παιδιά στον πραγματικό κόσμο. Λένε ότι όποτε την ακούσεις να κλαίει, θα την βλέπεις παντού μέχρι να πάρει μια ακόμη δυάδα μικρών παιδιών συνήθως αδέλφια και τα πνίξει όπου βρει νερό. Είναι η ίδια? Είναι δαίμονας? Είναι απλά ένας θρύλος? Ποιος ξέρει...
