The Martinez family is trying to get back on its feet after the recent death of the father, Miguel.

They move to Castaic County, among the hills of California, several miles outside of Los Angeles, next to the shores of the lake of the same name.

The mother, Elena, is left alone to raise her two children, ten-year-old Mateo and little Sofia.

Their lives change when Sofia starts waking up in the middle of the night, saying she hears a woman crying outside the house.

At first, Elena thinks they're nightmares.

Until she finds wet children's footprints on the floor. Little footprints that lead to the children's room.

Mateo begins to see a woman dressed in white, while Sofia whispers that the unknown woman promised her that they will soon become "family".

When Elena tries to seek help, she discovers an old legend that everyone in the area is afraid to mention...
